The Krewe of Iris was founded in 1971 and is one of the oldest and largest female Carnival organizations. The parade-goers wear white gloves and masks. The name of the krewe is named after Iris, the Goddes of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. The krewe has over 3,400 members with 34 tandem floats.

The parade will take a route through uptown beginning at Napoleon Ave and S Saratoga St. Heading south until it hits St Charles Ave where it will go left. It will keep on St Charles circling Lee Cir and back to Canal St where it will turn right. At Canal and Tchoupitoulas St the parade will turn right. It will stay on Tchoupitoulas St and end at the intersection of Poydras.

This year Mardi Gras will be celebrated in New Orleans from January 6, 2020 (Twelfth Night) to Fat Tuesday on February 25, 2020. There will be 74 parades around the New Orleans Metro and the Northshore.
