The krewe began in 1979 by a businessman. Originally the parade took the Jefferson Hwy route but moved to the Veterans Blvd route in 1981. There are over 350 male and female riders and is a family fun event. There are 20 floats and the signature throw are hand decorated swords.
The parade will start at the intersection of Bonnabel Blvd and Nero St. It will then take a right onto Veterans Memorial Blvd. Then it will make another right onto Severn Ave, then a u-turn at 17th St. At Veterans Memorial Blvd the parade turns right and then left before Clearview Pkwy. The parade ends at Clearview Shopping Center.
This year Mardi Gras will be celebrated in New Orleans from January 6, 2020 (Twelfth Night) to Fat Tuesday on February 25, 2020. There will be 74 parades around the New Orleans Metro and the Northshore.
