The Krewe of Bilge brings a unique twist to Mardi Gras with its annual boat parade in Slidell, Louisiana. For over 40 years, this one-of-a-kind event has delighted locals and visitors as festive boats glide through Slidell’s waterways, tossing beads, cups, and other Carnival treasures to enthusiastic parade-goers. Founded in 1978 by a group of local residents, the Krewe has grown to include more than 400 members and has become a beloved tradition in the area. Its vibrant celebration of Louisiana culture has earned it multiple accolades as a “Top 20 Event” by the Southern Tourism Society.
Spectators can enjoy the parade from several prime viewing spots along the route. Popular locations include The Dock of Slidell on Lakeview Drive, Highway 11 near Michael’s Restaurant, The Landing, and Tooloula’s. On the east side of the parade route, the firehouse on Marina Drive offers another great vantage point.
