A new Costco store near Covington, marking the retailer’s first venture into St. Tammany Parish, could open by the end of the year, according to a parish economic development official. The $45.8 million store is planned for a site off Pinnacle Parkway, covering around 12 acres in the Nord du Lac shopping area, which is adjacent to Interstate 12. St. Tammany Corporation announced that the store would create 75 full-time jobs with an average annual salary of nearly $60,000, along with 75 part-time positions. The store is expected to generate $60 million in new sales and property taxes over the next decade.
This will be the second Costco store in the region, with the first located in Mid-City, New Orleans. The Washington-based Fortune 500 company employs over 200,000 people and reported nearly $238 billion in net sales for its 2023 fiscal year, which ended in September.
