White Linen & Lagniappe Night has been a tradition for three years in Slidell. Patrons enjoy dressing up and celebrating the local art community. In fact, before the pandemic, the event attracted around 4,000 people.
The event’s goal is not only to encourage celebrating the art community but also Olde Towne itself. Local Olde Towne Slidell restaurants, bars, galleries and shops participate. Along with shopping and eating, there is also music along the streets.
This year the art exhibit is called “Reinvention: Creative Pivots in the Pandemic” and revolves around how the art community kept going through COVID-19. Through the pandemic, new media, techniques, styles and content through art bring us joy and hope. The artists are able to tell their stories through these mediums.
Once the event is rescheduled during the White Linen and Lagniappe Night, the exhibition will have extended hours and will open an hour before the White Linen event takes place. Artists will share their stories advanced writings, audio histories and live storytelling. These will be collected and included in a time capsule.
Check the official website of the event to see when it will be rescheduled. Due to the surge of COVID-19 cases, events will be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled.
