Mardi Gras carnival season begins on Twelfth Night, January 6, 2022. Carnival season is annual and always starts the day before Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent. Fat Tuesday is the last day of Carnival season and this year it is on March 1, 2022.

Mardi Gras traditions include music, parades, picnics floats and fun for the whole family. It is the biggest holiday in New Orleans. There are krewe parades in New Orleans and all of the surrounding communities.
