This krewe was founded in 1969 and was made up of Loyola University students. The krewe was named after an old pub named Friar Tucks. Originally running during the night, it is now a daytime parade. There are 1800 female and male riders on 36 super-sized floats.
The parade runs the Uptown route beginning at Napoleon Ave and Tchoupitoulas St. It then turns right on St Charles and follows east to Lee Cir where it goes around the circle and runs north on St Charles. The parade then turns right onto Canal and follows it to Tchoupitoulas and turns right. The parade ends at Tchoupitoulas and Poydras.
This year Mardi Gras will be celebrated in New Orleans from January 6, 2020 (Twelfth Night) to Fat Tuesday on February 25, 2020. There will be 74 parades around the New Orleans Metro and the Northshore.
