The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra invites audiences to an unforgettable evening of music that blends classical charm, cultural celebration, and contemporary flair. The program opens with Britten’s Soirées Musicales, a sparkling set of melodies inspired by Rossini’s operatic wit and elegance. The spotlight then turns to the highly anticipated world premiere of New Orleans composer Jay Weigel’s Violin Concerto, written for and performed by LPO Associate Concertmaster Hannah Yim. Florence Price’s Suite of Dances follows, offering a vibrant and soulful tribute to African American musical heritage, before the night concludes with Miguel del Aguila’s Salon Buenos Aires, a fiery and passionate tango guaranteed to leave the audience energized.
Led by conductor Matthew Kraemer, this concert promises a dynamic mix of styles and emotions, with something to captivate every listener. The performance runs approximately 100 minutes, including an intermission, and features a pre-concert talk from 6:30 to 7 p.m. to provide insights into the evening’s repertoire.
