The Krewe of Poseidon, named after the Greek god of the sea, is a fitting tribute to Slidell’s water-centric community. This co-ed krewe has grown into one of the largest on the Northshore, dazzling parade-goers with 750 riders and 26 elaborately designed floats, including super floats, tandems, and doubles. Poseidon is known for its extraordinary keepsake throws, which go far beyond the usual beads. From tridents and medallion beads to beach towels, crawfish trays, and even krewe-branded socks, the parade offers a treasure trove of unique items. Attendees can also expect plenty of light-up throws and themed goodies, ensuring a memorable experience that truly stands out.
Beyond the spectacle of its parade, the Krewe of Poseidon is deeply committed to giving back to the Slidell community. By fostering social connections and engaging in philanthropic efforts, the krewe plays an active role in supporting local causes and promoting community spirit. Their dedication to both fun and charity makes the Krewe of Poseidon a beloved fixture in the Northshore’s Carnival season and a shining example of how Mardi Gras can bring joy and positive impact to a community.
