The Rougarou Fest is a FREE, family-friendly festival with a spooky twist, celebrating the rich folklore of Southeast Louisiana’s bayous. This lively event features live music, cultural and children’s activities, delicious Cajun food, and the Krewe Ga Rou parade, making it a must-see for all ages. Proceeds from the festival benefit the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reshaping how we think, teach, and learn about the rapidly disappearing Louisiana coastline.
The Rougarou Fest has earned national and regional acclaim, ranked as one of the Top 10 Costume Parties in the U.S. by USA Today in 2014. It was also recognized as one of the Top 20 Events in October by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2015 and 2019, and has been honored multiple times by Louisiana’s tourism and festival organizations. In 2020 and 2023, it was named Festival of the Year by the Louisiana Travel Association.
